Mature College: Part 1 of 9

Well, my first semester of grad school is done. That's right. Finished. Well, maybe I have one final left, but let's be honest, it's open notes. Enough said. 1 semester down, 8 to go. It could be worse. Like I could still have 9 semesters left. Right?
I was thinking about when I started my program back in August. Wow, that seems like forever ago.  Let's not forget that dreadful first week of grad school. You may recall my post about it here. Now,  I don't know where I would be with out my program. Seriously. How I survived 22 years of my life with out knowing the things I now know and the people I now know, is beyond me. Every doubt I ever had about going to grad school, have now subdued. I know that this is where I need to be and what I need to be doing with my life. What a great feeling! I would be lying if I said it was easy to get to this point because trust me, it was not. Things I remember about my first semester?

1. Failing my first test (literally failing that sucker) Big, fatty F.
2. Dissecting my first (and only) human being
3. Holding my teacher's dog while she taught class. Apparently in mature college, you can bring your dog to class and it is acceptable

4. Having my teacher tell me to palpate and "feel up" my class members in order to understand how the body works. It's only awkward if you make it awkward.
5. My friend asking if I had mono because of my tired appearance and inability to shower and get dressed before class (Bless her heart)
6. My class clapping for me the day I actually showered and got ready for college
7. Attempting to actually cheer for the Utes (Like I said, attempting)

The people in my program are like family. It's the greatest.

So, here's to you mature college. I am one step closer to being and occupational therapist because of you.
