DOROTHY. AFRICA. TOMS.

TOMS. A pretty recent fashion trend, yes? I mean, I won't lie.  I am all about them. They have the TOMS you slip on, the glitter toms, the TOMS with cool designs, the ones that lace, they even have men's TOMS. Let's be honest-they have TOMS for erryone.
As a proud owner of 2 pairs of TOMS, I am not hating on them. But, there are a few things about them that really bother me.

1. Red glitter TOMS. I mean, if you wear them, fine. But, make sure you click your heels and say "I wish I was home" at least 3 times during the day. You may be called Dorothy. If you can handle that, fine.  Rock the ruby red slippers, so hard.

2. (and the final) The deal is, for every pair of TOMs the company sells, they send a pair to the kids in Africa. So, natch-you feel good about yourself when you buy a pair. But, oh wait.  I purchased a pair of TOMS in Decemberish. Where are they now? Ripped to shreds. I did not hike in them,  have a dog chew them to pieces, or light them on fire. I simply wore them-once a week. Now, I have running shoes I wear every day to run multiple miles in. These shoes cost the same and last about 3 years if I wanted them to. So don't even say I over used them.  My TOMS-dead after 6 months. R.I.P. Little suckers. It was fun. But seriously, Come on now? If my TOMS will not even hold up for 6 months, how are they really holding up for children in Africa who are wearing them erryday? I feel like it is no good. I am all for helping these kids. Give them nutritional supplements, maybe some Nikes, or first aid supplies. But, TOMS? Really? They have not shown me promising results. I am confused.

I mean,  I still am all about the shoes. I think they have a great purpose-not to mention they are super cute and look great with skinny jeans. Seriously though, they need to up the quality of their substance. It is just not ok to walk around with the heel partly missing out of your shoe-when it was once there.

Lessons to be learned:
1. Unless your name is Dorothy, red glitter TOMS may not be for you.
2. TOMS need to be handled with caution. They basically self-destruct at any moment.
